We Love Due West

We had the opportunity to make a quick trip to Tucson to see our favorite group...Due West!! The whole family went and loved every minute of it. We considered it our reward for making good choices...let me explain. Back in January Due West announced that they were going on a small tour to Utah in March. I got right on the computer and bought 2 second row tickets to see them in St George, and boy was I excited! A few weeks after that we learned that Adam was going to be racing in his District Pine Wood Derby on the same day as the concert. It was a difficult decision but we decided to stay home and cheer on our boy. I was so bummed to miss the concert but happy that I was able to send the tickets to someone who could use them.
On Friday my sister, Kris, sent me an email saying that Due West was going to be preforming at a opening of a dentist office not too far from her house in Tucson. Needless to say I was jumping up and down with excitement! We took the kids out of school a little early and headed to Tucson. It was way better than seeing them in St George...we got to hang out and talk to them for a while before the concert began, we took pictures and got autographs and bought a pre-released copy of their CD. Yeah!! Then we got to sit at their feet, literally 25 feet from them and listen to them serenade us for over an hour. It was heaven!! My boys loved it!! I wish them all the luck in the world and am looking forward to seeing them become really famous.
Dave getting to know the boys and getting our CD signed.
Adam loved listening and singing along!

Pine Wood Derby Round II

Today was the District Pine Wood Derby. Adam was very excited to show off his car. There were some great looking cars, these boys have such wonderful imaginations. They called all the Bears to come get their cars to race, we waited but Adam didn't come. Pretty soon he came running up to Dave and said that a kid bumped him and he dropped his car. Dave went to the "pit" area to check out the damage. The car must have landed wrong when it fell because it shattered the plastic wheel in to many pieces. Dave was able to repair the car just in time for the race to begin. Adam ended up coming in 3rd over all the Bears and got the chance to race in the Grand Champion race.
The Grand Championship race is rather amusing from a spectators point of view. These boys are the best of the best and lets get real...we all know that these boys had little to do with building their cars. I watched 9 grown men bite their nails, pace the floor and wipe their sweaty palms on their jeans. The boys were having a blast but the dads were a wreck. It's so funny to watch their expressions as one boy after another breaks the lowest time. The dads would read the time and then their heads would snap up and look around for the dad that built "that" car. If their boy wasn't doing well than they were convinced that someone was cheating. Too funny!!

Adam did really well and won everyone of his 9 heats. When it came time to announce the winner Adam was ready to accept his trophy but his name was not called. Another boy had a few faster times and ended up taking the trophy home. The final results read...

#1 *********** 2.970 seconds
#2 Adam Wright 2.982 seconds
It was sooooo close. We are so proud of Adam & Dave for being a good sport and not throwing a fit. I can't believe that I have 9 more years until I can be done with this!

Busy Mommy

I've always hated those women who claim to be too busy to blog or Facebook or email. I'd think, "Oh come on, you can't be THAT busy!" Well I'm not becoming one of those women but I have been somewhat occupied by a little boy named Brady. He is the most mischievous boy I have ever met. He really keeps his Mama running. Here are a few examples...
1. Last week as I was getting out of the shower he came running into the bathroom holding a steak knife. Come to find out he dumped the toys out of the crate in the living room and pushed it into the kitchen and climbed on to the counter.
2. He pushed his little red rocking chain into my bedroom and reached up on the dresser to find my wedding ring. I found it in the living room floor.
3. Once again while I was showering he filled the empty dishwasher with everything from the utensil drawer.
4. He found a highlighter and colored himself, the wall, our bedspread and a little bit of the carpet. Just for the record I have never had a child do this before, I'm very proud of this fact.
The last picture is where I found him yesterday, he pulled all the books off the shelf but was very happy!!
He is a challenge but I love him sooo much!
